The full publication of the National Infrastructure Plan will be announced at the beginning of 2020.
On Tuesday, November 26, President López Obrador, together with the business sector, presented the National Infrastructure Investment Agreement for the Private Sector (hereinafter the “Agreement”), in the context of the federal government’s National Infrastructure Plan, which includes an initial package of 147 projects to be implemented over the remaining five years of the current six-year term, with the goal of reaching an annual infrastructure investment of 5% of GDP.
The Agreement was created as a tool to facilitate and accelerate the implementation of projects that contribute to the growth and development of the country, as well as to establish a mechanism of continuous participation in which projects will be monitored through the synergy of the public administration and the private sector, the latter proposing projects that require mostly private investment and that do not generate new public debt.
The 147 projects cover the entire country and represent a total private investment of 859,022 million pesos (42,951 million dollars), which will be distributed in different sectors such as transportation, tourism, telecommunications, water and sanitation, and health, among others. The first three economically benefit the most and the health sector the least.
The full publication of the National Infrastructure Plan will be announced at the beginning of 2020.
