Andrés Acedo M.

Founding partner, Mr. Acedo studied law at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, where he also coursed postgraduate business and corporate law degree. He worked as foreign associate at Bracewell & Patterson, LLP (currently Bracewell & Giuliani). He was a partner for several years of the law firm Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa, S.C., of which he was member for close to two decades.

His practice includes corporate, contractual and financial law, as well as insolvency, restructures, mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive experience in the communications and telecommunications sector and in the representation of foreign investors in Mexico. He has advised complex infrastructure, telecommunications, privatization and public bidding projects. He has worked with public as well as private companies in all types of infrastructure projects and joint ventures, financing and corporate restructure. His practice includes advising his clients in complex real estate projects as well as estate planning.

For more than fifteen years, Mr. Acedo has been professor of corporate laws and of telecommunications at Universidad Panamericana and Universidad Iberoamericana, two of the most prestigious law schools in Mexico City. He is a member of the Mexican Bar and of the Mexican Institute of Telecommunications (IDET).

Pedro Santamarina Noriega

Founding partner, Mr. Santamarina studied law at Escuela Libre de Derecho. He was a partner for several years of the lawfirm De Ovando y Martínez del Campo, S.C. (currently Jones Day Mexico City) for which he was a member for nearly two decades. He also worked for some years as foreign legal consultant in the Houston office of Vinson & Elkins LLP.

He has broad experience in corporate and business law, and has actively participated in domestic as well as international transactions, working along with recognized companies and lawfirms in Mexico and abroad.

He has advised public as well as private companies in all types of infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings through capital as well as debt markets, privatizations, public biddings, franchises and real estate projects, among others. His practice includes antitrust and estate planning.

Rafael Tena Castro

Mr. Tena is the head of our tax practice. He earned his law degree from Universidad Panamericana in 2009. He has postgraduate studies in Tax Law in the Escuela Libre de Derecho (highest average of the class). He was awarded with The Orange Tulip Scholarship and holds the Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law (LL.M. (Adv.)) from the International Tax Center – Leiden University, The Netherlands.

Among others, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Mexican Bar Association, in Administrative Litigation and the Summer Program in American Law offered by Columbia Law School in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Mr. Tena´s practice involves advising on commercial cross-border transactions, tax audits, transfer pricing and other tax planning strategies, as well as representing clients in tax litigation at both Federal and State levels.

He has lectured at Universidad Panamericana and Universidad Panamericana Preparatoria. He regularly publishes articles in Mexico and abroad.

Mr. Tena is a member of the Mexican Bar Association.

Roberto Alejandro Altamirano Fuentes

Roberto Altamirano graduated from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, in which he served as legal advisor of its renowned Legal Bureau for over 5 years, advising individuals in all type of civil and commercial claims, and helping to train a generation of litigation lawyers of the renowned Universidad Panamericana.

After joining the private practice and for the past ten years, Mr. Altamirano has advised complex litigation cases in several Courts and jurisdictions all across Mexico, in the civil, commercial, and constitutional fields, including international comercial arbitration.

Mr. Altamirano has advised litigation in diverse áreas, including estate litigation and telecommunications law.

Laura Gabriela Castillo Méndez

Ms. Castillo´s practice areas include corporate and commercial law: mergers and acquisitions, business formation and planning, structuring of national and international transactions, foreign investment, joint ventures, due diligences, etc.

A significant part of her work includes negotiating and drafting of a wide variety of contracts. She has advised on a wide range of commercial and regulatory compliance issues including financing, debt restructure, director and officer liability, anti-money laundering regulations, intellectual property licensing, foreign investment, securities, employment relations, domestic and international business, privacy, and migration.

José Luis Roldán Ortega

Jose Luis Roldan is a lawyer collaborating in civil, commercial, administrative and constitutional litigation area.

He obtained a Law degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe, where he participated in the International Commercial Arbitration Moot Program at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands, the University of Vienna, Austria and the Arbitration Center of Mexico.

He obtained his Master of Law degree, with Honors, by La Salle University Mexico, with the thesis: “Supplying the Arbitration Agreement in the Enforcement of International Commercial Arbitration Awards”, studies for which he was also awarded with the prize: “Brother Miguel Febres Cordero”, granted to the Valedictorian student of the Law School.

Additionally, he has a Major in Business Law with Honors by La Salle University Mexico, and has carried out other postgraduate studies at Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C.

He also serves as Professor of “Commercial Procedural Law” at the Social Sciences and Government National School of Tecnologico de Monterrey, and has been a lecturer in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities before various civil society organizations.

His languages are Spanish and English.

Enrique López Méndez

Is an associate of the firm, specializing in corporate, transactional and business law. He also focuses on regulatory matters, advising on consumer protection and administrative proceedings before local and federal authorities.

Enrique López studied law at Universidad Iberoamericana, where he also coursed studies in Political Science and Public Administration. He is currently a candidate to obtain the Master degree on Economic Law at Universidad Panamericana, where he has participated as assistant professor in different corporate law lectures.

José Luis Mejia Estrada

José Luis Mejia is a lawyer practicing in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, financing, trusts, foreign investment, intellectual property and has experience in the areas of civil and commercial law, telecomm, regulatory, public biddings and privacy law.

He studied law at Universidad Panamericana and has a Specialty in Commercial Law by the same university.

He has participated in international cases in the telecommunications industry and advised different commercial entities in contractual, organizational and corporate direction matters.

Andrea Fernanda Olaya Gómez

Andrea is an associate of the firm specializing in corporate, transactional and business law, as well as on regulatory and real estate matters.

Andrea obtained her law degree from Universidad Panamericana in 2016 and she also obtained a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law Institutions from the same University, with Honorable Mention in 2017. She participated in the Legal English Plus Course of Girton College, University of Cambridge.

Alfonso Pagaza Orosco

Is an associate of the tax practice of the firm. His practice is focused on tax controversy and consulting with respect to trade operations of taxpayers.

Alfonso studied law at Escuela Libre de Derecho (currently in process to obtain his Bachelor of Laws degree). He previously worked in a “Big Four”, where he performed as Lawyer in the Tax Controversy Area.

Jimena Mendoza De la Mora
